Principal

John F. Thomas, V.

John began his career in politics. During his time in Washington, D.C., John provided insightful political intelligence for corporate clients to better navigate legislative processes, specializing in tax policy, energy, defense, and business development. After being nominated as a Presidential Appointee, he left politics for commercial lending.

John played football and ran track at the University of the South, before graduating with his B.A, cum laude, from Tulane University. He attended Johns Hopkins University for his master’s degree.

An Austin, Texas native, John’s family has called central Texas home since 1825.

John W. Herbert, Jr., Esq.

Mr. Herbert has over four decades of Commercial Real Estate (“CRE”) financing experience. Credit-trained at Wells Fargo Realty Finance, he has underwritten over $3 billion of transactions and financed virtually every type of Residential and CRE property type including Multifamily, Retail, Hospitality, Office, Medical Office, Industrial Parks, Single Family developments and Data Centers.

John graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco with a J.D. Degree in 1975 and was admitted to the California State Bar in 1976. He received a MA – Real Estate Finance Degree from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He started Imperatore, Herbert & Co., Inc. (a CRE development and Brokerage company based in Sarasota, Florida) in the early 2000s, brokering more than $500 million of Commercial land transactions throughout Florida.

He is a member of the Urban Land Institute, a prior Member of the University of Florida Real Estate Advisory Board, and past Board President of the Florida House Institute in Sarasota.

Mr. Herbert’s Family has deep roots in Texas going back to 1937 when his Great-Grandfather, a wildcatter in Fort Worth, founded Herbert Oil Company.

Trey Montoya

Trey currently holds the role of Development Director at Curlee Capital, where his primary responsibilities encompass overseeing investment decisions and providing strategic guidance to clients. Commencing his career in Houston, Texas, Trey has held diverse positions across all asset classes, steering a private real estate portfolio. His track record includes the successful completion of various developments, ranging from a 290-unit workforce housing master plan community to a large-scale JV land acquisition spanning 3,000+ acres across Texas.

Since 2019, Trey has gained renown for his adept sourcing of distinctive development opportunities and securing robust land acquisitions in markets characterized by high demand, formidable barriers to entry, and intricate entitlement processes. This proficiency has translated into substantial value enhancement and superior yields for investment partners. In contrast to companies emphasizing full-scale operations, Trey has cultivated invaluable relationships with leading vertical developers, not only within the United States but also internationally. This network has underpinned a straightforward yet potent investment strategy and advisory approach.

A proud native of Austin, Texas, Mr. Montoya is an alumnus of Texas A&M University, holding a B.S. in Agricultural Economics with a specialization in Finance and Real Estate.

Garrett Wildermuth

Garrett Wildermuth

An Austin native, Garrett Wildermuth is a recent graduate from Arizona State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Garrett began his career in real estate, working at Ion Equities, a turnkey vacation rental in Scottsdale, Arizona. During this time, he gained valuable experience in property management and financial analysis. After his time at Ion Equities, he returned home and worked as a loan originator in the hard money real estate sector focusing on central Texas, where he specialized in DSCR/Bridge lending.

Despite being a full-time college student, he managed to close over $15 Million in loan volume. Throughout Garrett’s time in school, he has worked multiple internships and jobs in finance and real estate. Currently, Garrett serves as a Loan Analyst at Curlee Capital, responsible for underwriting and structuring deals.
